hour of codeAt Kennedy-Longfellow we celebrate the "Hour of Code" for months! The Hour of Code is a national, annual event for K-12 students. The goal is to achieve equity in computer science by making it available to ALL children. In December, Kennedy-Longfellow K-2 students explored coding with beginner robots called Bee-Bots. Students, grades 3-5, chose from a range of coding activities. Depending on their interests and experience levels they had the opportunity to create music, art, and video games. All through coding!

K-Lo will keep it going through Valentine's Day! Students grades K-2, will continue to use bee-bots and begin using KIBOs. KIBOs are a screen-free robot that allows for even more creativity. Grades 3-5 will continue to build on their coding experience through Scratch and Scratch jr. activities. They will also exploring physical computing through circuitry, and robotics projects.
