Playworks!

playworksPlayworks, the non-profit that provides us with organized games at recess, has been training some of our 4th and 5th graders to be Junior Coaches (JCs). It’s a great opportunity to step up and be a leader, and it’s fun! Two of our 5th graders attended a Junior Coaches Leadership Conference which was 2 fun filled days for the JC's from all over the area. The theme was community...the days were filled with games, leadership activities, a guest speaker and outreach service project!

Wednesday the conference had Lt. Tom from the Fire Investigative Unit and Keegan (the service dog) who can sniff out fire accelerant. On Thursday Rob Constalvo from BPS - Chief of Staff talked about community leaders and leadership. Later that day Playworks partners, the Martin Richard Foundation, lead the group in a giving back project where the JC's helped sort clothes from a clothing drive, stuffed backpacks with a book for homeless children, fill bags with school supplies for our fellow students in need, made signs stating our community values (recycle, no smoking, etc), and made fleece blankets!
