On December 17, 2024, the Cambridge Public School (CPS) School Committee unanimously approved Interim Superintendent David Murphy’s recommendation to reassign all Kennedy-Longfellow School students to other schools in the district for the 2025-2026 school year, effectively closing the school. Here are important things to know:
- The Kennedy-Longfellow School will continue to operate through School Year 2024-2025.
- Beginning in School Year 2025-2026, KLo students will be reassigned to other CPS schools. Please see the full Transition Plan linked here for details on school assignments.
- Information for KLo staff will be shared as soon as possible. District administration and the CEA are in regular communication.
- Interim Superintendent Murphy has formed two committees to ensure a smooth and efficient transition. These committees will include representatives from the district, KLo staff, and KLo caregivers. The committees will start meeting in February 2025.
