students at the Kennedy-Longfellow attend art class once a week for 45
minutes. Throughout the year students will have the opportunity to
explore using different materials and art concepts. Each new lesson plan
will connect to the elements and principals of art; line, shape, form,
color, value, texture, space, balance, proportion, rhythm, and
composition. Students will be encouraged to use creative problem
solving, critical thinking and self-expression. Art is a great place to
make connections to the curriculum being addressed in other subject
areas as well as the world around us.
The Kindergarten Art Curriculum

Cambridge Creativity Commons
school is located nearby the
Cambridge Creativity Commons, the working
artist’s studio of Cambridge Artist Dorothy Arnold, who regularly opens
her studio and gallery space to school groups from around the city.
