Turkey Trot

Turkey Trot
Posted on 12/07/2016

The KLO turkey trot is a longstanding tradition that began in 2003 and has been held each year on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This is an amazing all school event coordinated and run by Mark Antonelli, Kennedy-Longfellow’s, physical education teacher, in which he encourages all students to participate in. Students run and walk in the event, as well as, older students volunteer to set-up and breakdown the course. Students that are not actively running band together and cheer classmates and other grades on. This community-building event is looked forward to each year by the entire school. Placeholders win a unique trophy. Additionally, staff donate pies as prizes and a raffle is held so that each student has an opportunity to bring a pie home for the Thanksgiving weekend. This community-building event also runs a food drive. Students and families donate food items for local area families that are in need. This year items were donated to the CRLS Food Pantry.
